Ananga shares lessons learned from a Mother who spent a year in isolation with her sick child.
Be careful to not pile on
It’s easy to start criticising ourselves for not doing enough while we’re at home, but it’s important to remember that this is an exceptional time and that many of us are concerned about our loved ones, or making ends meet. It’s important to take each day as it comes in small steps and not fall prey to feeling bad over unreasonable expectations.
Avoid media overload
Every day the media is filled with rising counts of illness and loss of life, we don’t need to refresh the numbers. We need the relevant information to keep safe, that’s all.
Keep good company
As an antidote to negative media, we can spend time each day with those who inspire us - and that doesn’t need to be in person.
Reading inspiring authors is a way of connecting with their outlook and energy.
Audio Books are a good way to fill our minds with engaging stories or information that nourishes us while passing our time peacefully.
Podcasts from anyone who helps you get through the day, or makes you laugh.
Spend time with positive and calming people every day for inspiration and support.
The healing power of a daily routine
Tips from Ayurveda for daily self-care for health and peace of mind.
Stay in gratitude
The mind, by its nature in leaning toward a negative bias, will look for what might go wrong, it will focus on everything we don’t like about lockdown and project anxious “what if” thoughts.
Noting throughout the day some simple gratitudes and brighter moments helps keep the mind in check. Gratitude is a powerful antidote to anxiety and helps us stay in the moment where we can respond with compassion to ourselves and others.
